Excitement Builds for Senior Center in East Boston
Last week we participated in a lively public meeting with the East Boston community to discuss the City’s plans for converting the Barnes Avenue Library in Orient Heights into a senior center. Held in the Paris Street Community Center, there was a great turnout of over a hundred people that featured Mayor Marty Walsh and the Age Strong Commission, along with other public dignitaries, as well as a concept design presentation by our team. We received enthusiastic input from the community on the programming they would like to see included in the center.
Mayor Walsh praised the community-driven effort that has spurred this project, emphasizing the important role that local residents will play to help shape what the new center will look like. “This is a community gathering place built for the people and by the people”, he said.
We are thrilled to be designing with the East Boston community again!
