Fitchburg Municipal Airport Hosts Open House!
Fitchburg celebrated the official opening of its new 4,200 square foot building last week with the community gathering for speeches, followed by outdoor refreshments. Among the speakers were MassDOT Aeronautics Division Administrator Jeffrey DeCarlo as well as Mayor Stephen DiNatale who commented that the new building is “so important to our economic growth.”
After the ceremony, guests gathered to enjoy the outdoor picnic tables with a view of the airfield as they snacked on fall treats and cider provided by Hollis Hills Farm.
The new airport building now offers a conference room, office area, flight school, and pilot lounge for travelers as well as new bathroom facilities and showers for pilots. It is the third building slated to be built under MassDOT’s Strategic Master Plan for Municipal Airports.
